At Summit County Mountain Retreats we often get the question "what is the difference between your condos in River Run that are walk to the lifts and your condos that are Ski-in and Ski-out.
All of our Walk to the lift condos are located in the River Run area of Keystone which is the highest end area of Keystone. It was built in the late 90's and early 2000's. This areas is a 1 billion dollar investment. Every condo building in this area is within 1 to 5 minutes walk to the new high speed gondola. By all reasonable standards these buildings would be considered very high end and rival anything you might find at a hotel. Staying in a walk to the lifts condo in River Run you will be seconds away form all of the other activities that Keystone has to offer. It is extremely family friendly. There are shops and restaurants lining the board walk and unlike many resorts you can actually find things that are reasonably priced. The Ski-in and Ski-out buildings are the most exclusive buildings in the Keystone resort. These buildings are know as The Lone Eagle and The Timbers. Both buildings are next to each other and you can literally pop on your skis from the building and ski to the main lift in 20 seconds. So what is so special about these buildings other than the fact that you can ski from your building to the slopes. As I mentioned these buildings are very exclusive. The Timbers only has 29 units in it, but it has all the facilities that every other building has. It has an amazing indoor/outdoor pool, a hot tub with waterfall, a fire pit and grill and of course all the outer grounds are heated. The inside of The Timbers is exquisite. The lobby is second to none. It features a baby grand piano, massive roaring fireplace, large open spaces to sit and relax. This lobby is actually an area that you would enjoy relaxing in. Additionally, the units in Timbers and Lone Eagle are about 30% larger than condos in River Run. Everything in these condos is high end. Each condo in Timbers and Lone Eagle features granite counters, slate tiles, stainless steel appliances and much more. Many units have been further upgraded with top of the line TV's, steam showers, jetted tubs and more.
The Lone Eagle is located right next to the slopes. Most condos in the building have spectacular ski slope views. You can relax on your balcony and watch the skiers come down the main slope of River Run. Lone Eagle features the same high end features that The Timbers features, but of course it has its own unique character.
So what is the price difference between River Run condos and Ski-in and Ski-out condos? In Keystone, the price difference is about double, when making a snow balls to snow balls comparison.
