Keystone ski resort has spend a great on capital improvements over the past two years. Last year the new high speed gondola replaced the old gondola. The new Keystone gondola is the fastest and largest in North America. It is 40% faster than the older model and it accommodates 8 passengers instead of 6. Probably the best innovation of the new Keystone Ski Resort gondola is that there is a new mid-station about one-third of the way up the mountain. This dramatically reduces bottle necks at the base area.

With the old gondola everyone had to ski down to the bottom and wait in the same long line. This was especially irritating early in the morning and just after lunch. Now with the new mid-station, skiers who want to stay on the mountain can avoid most of the congestion by getting on at this point.

The major new addition for the 2009/10 ski season is the creation of the new skier bridge and base area expansion at the River Run base area in the Keystone Ski Resort. During the summer the old pedestrian bridge was demolished and the new skier bridge was built. The bridge is at least twice as wide as the old bridge and it allows skiers and boards to ski right to the new gondola. The ski school area at the River Run base area has also been expanded.

Finally something important to us all, Keystone Vacation Ski Resort has upgraded its food offering on the mountain. If you like to grab a snack or eat lunch on Dercum Mountain or North Peak, you will find that the food selection has been improved dramatically. Fresh and high quality food has replaced the frozen and reconstituted items that barely passed as food. The best news of all is that you will still pay the same ridiculous prices you paid before. There has been no price increase.
