Christmas at Keystone Ski Resort
Why should you choose Keystone Ski Resort to spend your Christmas holiday? There are many unique and outstanding features that Keystone has to offer. First, lets talk about world class skiing. With three big beautiful mountains and every kind of terrain imaginable there is something for all skiers of all levels. There is great beginner and intermediate terrain on Dercum Mountain (formally named Keystone Mountain). North Peak has great technical runs for advanced and expert skiers. If you want a work out this is the mountain for you. Then there is the Outback, which is the locals favorites. This mountain has great tree skiing and back woods skiing. There are also some great bowls on The Outback. Lets not forget that Keystone features the greatest night skiing in the country. In Keystone you can ski a full 12 hours per day.
The Keystone Ski Resort features many ancillary activates that you will not find in many other places. These activities include fine dining at the top of North Peak. You can also enjoy a great German style restaurant at the top of the mountain as well. Down in the River Run area there are many shops restaurants and activities to occupy your time. There is also great people watching opportunities.
The River Run base area was built in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. It is one of the newest and nicest ski areas anywhere. The condos in River Run range from high-end walk to the lift condos to supreme luxury condos that are ski-in and ski-out. Even though River Run is a very high-end area. The rental rates are significantly lower than comparable condos in Breckenridge or Vail.
Last but certainly not least, during peak times like Christmas Keystone tends to have shorter lift lines and is easier to get around in then Vail or Breckenridge. For example Breckenridge is the busiest ski resort in North America. It has about twice as many visitors as Keystone. However, it does not have twice the capacity to carry people on lifts. The results in extremely long lift lines in Breckenridge. It is not uncommon to wait an hour to get on a lift. In Keystone you can get on most lifts within just a couple of minutes. In fact, even during peak times it is normal to be able to immediately hope on a lift. Keystone recently completed a major upgrade to its lift system. In River Run there is a new ultra high speed gondola that seats 8 passengers. This almost doubles the previous lift capacity of River Run.
No matter what you goals are, price, terrain, extra activities or low hassle, Keystone Ski Resort is the place to be.
