Two Things to Check Before You Drive Anywhere
Watch the clock, not just the day. Good news first: none of these six close for a full day of the week. But three run limited windows. Butterhorn shuts at 2:30pm, so it is breakfast and lunch only. Saved by the Wine does not open until 2:00pm Monday through Thursday, so it is not a lunch option. Mercado La Perla closes at 7:30pm, earlier than most dinner spots.
Reserve in peak season. December through March, and especially holiday weeks and Presidents Day, these fill up. Booking ahead is smart at Bistro North, Eclectic and Saved by the Wine in particular.

The flaky, golden empanadas come stuffed with steak, spicy BBQ chicken, spinach, mushrooms and more, each one labelled so you can pick easily. The interior is cozy and lit by local artwork, and the bar shakes up a serious Old Fashioned. Worth noting for non-drinkers: the crafted mocktails are genuinely good rather than sugary afterthoughts.

A vibrant combination of meat market, grocery store and restaurant, and one of the most enthusiastically recommended places in the county. The carniceria menu runs to al pastor tacos, carne asada, enchiladas and enormous burritos, all with genuine flavor. A salsa bar lets you load up on fresh salsas, pickled vegetables and roasted jalapeños.

This Dillon wine bar is considerably more than its name suggests, and the name itself has a story: a portion of the proceeds goes to animal rescue.
The menu covers black truffle gnocchi, cheese fondue, cedar plank salmon, loaded potato skins with prosciutto, a standout chicken croissant sandwich and a comforting chicken pot pie, all paired with expert wine flights and whiskey flights. The patio has stellar views of Buffalo Mountain and the Gore Range.

A local staple for over 40 years, and one of the most beloved restaurants in Summit County by a considerable margin. The sausage croissant sandwich, pancakes, cinnamon roll French toast, huevos rancheros and country fried steak all start a cold morning properly. Everything is baked from scratch, portions are generous, and the room is full of colorful decor, sarcastic signs and local artwork, including a skiing dog emerging from the ceiling.

In Keystone, River Run Village has slopeside dining within a short walk of the gondola, which makes it the easiest option if you are staying at River Run Village, Lakeside Village or Mountain House. Our Silver Mill, Red Hawk Lodge, Expedition Station and Dakota Lodge condos all sit in or beside the village.
In Copper Mountain, the three base villages each have their own dining, and the naturally divided terrain makes it an easy mountain for mixed-ability groups.
Planning a 2026/2027 Ski Trip?
Breckenridge's projected opening day is November 7, 2026, with the season typically running into mid or late May, one of the longest in North America. Keystone opens in the autumn and runs one of the largest night-skiing operations in the state, which means you can eat late and still ski.
Both Breckenridge and Keystone run on the Epic Pass, so a Summit County stay is unusually good value if you hold one. Buy early, since prices climb as the season approaches.
Getting between towns is free. The county-wide Summit Stage bus connects Keystone, Dillon, Silverthorne, Frisco, Breckenridge and Copper at no cost, which means nobody has to skip the wine list. It runs on a fixed schedule, so allow a buffer in heavy snow.
And go easy the first night. Summit County sits high, and alcohol hits noticeably harder up here. Drink water alongside, eat properly, and save the big evening for later in the trip.
